What's he doin tryin to crow at 8.30pm? Are you gonna have to sit in the dark so he doesn't think it's morning? It's all happening a bit quick isn't it....?
I don't think their body clocks are up to much - next door's cockrel was yelling his head off at 4.20am this morning
i think he was just trying to get it right before morning maybe one of the girls was on his foot, it's very comical though, doesn't sound much like a 'proper' cock
A bit like human boys when their voices break then
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there
that's phoenix, she's much smaller than the others, so i wonder if there might be a bit of silky in her, as that's one of the breed options, she always makes sure she gets her share of food though, she crawls under the others, whereas pingu just jumps on their heads
she's cute, can't wait till they get their proper feathers, which by the look of it with all the feathers everywhere, won't be long
So it'll be early mornings for you then from now on

yeah but they are scared of anything that wriggles lol .... found a nest of woodlice in the garden and they legged it ...... anyway, the shed is out the back, i'm at the front it isn't that loud yet lol ..... and it's pitch black in there.
well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this!
Troy, (a pekin bantam) about a week ago, started this squeeky sore throat type cock a doodle do! I was really proud of him and it was lovely. But now, he seems to do it throughout the day and evening! He's now driving me mad! nothing has spooked him, dont think hes talking to the seaguls on the roof, anything i can do? If he's not chasing the other two around he's making a racket!!!
He's just very pleased with himself...at the moment I have 2 adult cockerels and 2 teenagers 'calling for Strepsils!!!!'
At least every 10 mins one of them is crowing ( or trying to)..but I'm in the countryside so the noise isn't too bad.
2 of them will be for the pot ( the youngsters) when they're big enough.
I've got to the stage when I know which one is calling!!!!
Only answer is to pass them on to someone else ( to eat or be a hubby for some girlies) - or eat them yourself.

Now Basil's got this crowing lark perfected he wants to show off every hour on the hour!! at least so far he's only started yelling at 6.30am once (at least I didn't hear him if it was any earlier!) Rowan's only crowed a couple of times, but why bother when he's got Basil to do it for him
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there
I dont suppose anyone would agree with me that Troy's constant cock a doodle doing is cos he has realised his mommy's not here??? maybe he's missing her......

Or maybe absence of Mum has made him think he's all growed up and can start acting like boss cockerel?
