  • Huuuuuge Egg!

One of my 'Girls' lays long narrow sausage-shaped eggs, one lays extra-small ones, one lays rough-shelled eggs, like sandpaper. Another lays ridged eggs, with a swirl on the top, another lays round eggs with no wide or narrow end, and today I got an enormous egg that weighs three ounces OUCH!

It's 7cm long and 5cm wide at the widest part - it's bigger than some duck eggs!

The one next to it in the pic is a 'large' and the other is a 'small' as per shop-bought sizes. The big one is so large I can't close the lid if I put it in an XL egg-box.

    Anyone else got any weirdos?

I get all sizes and shapes too. Guess that's why the 'farmers' get rid of them. I have noticed that the eggs are smaller now than last summer, when there were some woppers. One of my girls always lays a rough and ridged egg. Vet says not to worry she's fine.

One of mine sometimes lays very large wrinkled eggs (hard shell, just wrinkled!). It's as if the shell is too big for the contents. Still taste nice though. Must take a photo next time she lays one
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

What a whopper! I get wierd eggs too - sometimes rough, often with a wrinkly end. Had a really long thin oval one today. All taste delicious, but scupper my chances in the local garden show....

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I thought an egg was an egg was an egg, until I got the 'Girls.' I think I'll start photographing the odd ones, and maybe even blowing them and keeping them in like a rogues gallery - or is that just a wee bit mental lol?

OK, I don't really need anyone to answer that, but I may still do it 'cause I'm a saddo!

I always bagsie the BIG ones, as they are genrally double yolkers and as I only like the yolk and I am the one who tends to their every desire I GET THEM!

Tis ok though the white is not wasted, my little boy only likes the white bit so we share!
