  • Automatic Doot Opener

    Hi,

Can anyone recommend an automatic door opener? Have been looking at the VSB types, does anyone have one, any good?

    Thanks

I got mine (and the hen house ) from PandT poultry. I've seen them elsewhere dearer but look just the same. It works fine. Just need the chickens now!

Well the i ordered the door opener, metal door and the separate timer unit so i can control when the girls are let and claosing time.

Really easy to fit and so far all is working really well. Must admit i do like my gadgets and this one doesn't disappoint!

Don't feel so bad having a bit of a Sunday morning lie in now :-)

To use these dooe openers, do the doors have to pull upwards? Mine slide sidewards. Also, do they have to be situated in full sun? They sound like a good idea but am a bit confused as to how they really work (just for a change!)

No, there are lots of different option on opening methods. You can buy pulley wheels which let you control different doors.
I'll scan the bit of paper with the diagrams and post on here later.

As for the amount of light, it wasn't sunny yesterday when i fitted it without the timer and it worked just fine. But now i have the timer is doesn't matter about the light as it overides the light sensor. I wanted to be in control of when it opens and shuts, others may disagree but i didn't want to run the risk of the door shutting before my dizzy girls went in to roost (there's always one who seems to want to stay out!!)

Looking forward to seeing diagrams. I really want one but can't make up my mind which is best one or best place to get it.
