We had a good fall of snow last night and the chooks were seriously unimpressed. No-one came out of the coop for a while, then while I was bending over the bin full of wheat trying to dig it out of the snow, my young Minorca lad Pablo decided to venture out and flew up onto my shoulder! First time he's done that, he's only just started taking food out of my hand he stayed there while I walked to the house and back to show OH. He was grateful when I put him in the field shelter though

Even my lots ran to the edge of the hangover and stopped dead in their tracks, they'd have been up to their necks, they trundled around the edge putting an odd foot forward and that was it so they are now wandering backwards and forwards discussing their predicament and having the odd peck of snow

I can just imagine that Big boss standing there saying "It's ok, get out there you wimps!" and the "worrier" saying "It's cold on my feet, is it cold on your feet? Bet it's cold on our feet over there. Are you going over there to find out? This bit's cold on my feet as well" Well that's what my Hazel and Myrtle would be doing if they weren't tucking into warm rice and mash

My lot stood in the doorway yesterday, as if to say; 'Oh no, not that again!' So, like a good Mummy I scraped a path through the snow with my boot so they could get to the green patches under the trees and the rain canopy where their mash was. When I turned round to see if any were going to follow, I nearly fell over them as they appeared to be attached to my feet lol!

Brilliant! Mine are a little more independant minded than that but then my tempestuous relationship with Roo means as soon as the doors open I'm making a discreet exit..... he's particularly difficult first thing in the morning.

Yep Aunty Mo that was about right I reckon Well, by the afternoon they had taken the plunge started by Fluffy who is either daring or plain daft and it's amazing how clean their feet were by the end of the day - if a little pink

Hey Bephlam, have you been hibernating? I'd rather my girls had longevity than lots of eggs but that's easy for me to say as we have eggs.
My lot don't particularly like walking on the snow and take exaggerated large steps but they think it's a food source and eat it. I notice the girls have very pink feet. Is this caused by the snow? Do they have chilblains?

I think the pink feet are increased blood flow like when cold hands go red, all mine have pink feet while in snow and back to normal when in
