Wrong!!! well nearly. I didn't buy any chooks. God did answer my prayer, said yes to 2 of the requests and no to the other. There was just 1 box of 12 Welsummer eggs, and only me and another chap bidding on them, he chickened out when I bid £3.50 so I won them . I only wanted 6 really. So they're now sitting in the kitchen waiting till tomorrow, the incubator's warming up and my heart rate has already gone up loads! OMG what have I done!!!!!

Anyone else living not too far from Penkridge, the poultry and eggs auction is on Wednesdays, starts at 12.30, and there were loads of different breeds available and they all were going (what I consider to be) really cheap. Apparently next week the prices will be higher because of half-term and more people there. Oh yes, trains stop at Penkridge and the station isn't far from the market Meet you there Lynda?

Well don't hold your breath. I asked one of the old chaps there what "BF" on the labels meant, and he said it's "believed fertile", then he said "and if you believe that you'll believe anything" . Mind you, he was a grumpy old s*d

i'm planning on going to macclesfield auction, and erm the one near Sarzwix's when she's up and about ....... but i'm not gonna buy anything lol

all hatching eggs are sold as believed fertile ....... you can never guarantee that every girl has been with the boys .... some might be shy ....... it saves any comeback on them if some don't hatch

anyway that's why i lent you the incubator ....... so i have nothing to hatch them in ..... i have no willpower lol

If you only wanted 6 why didn't you do a deal with the other bidder and have half each, for £1.75?
