  • Hard boiled Fresh eggs

OK, so one week later hard boiled eggs x2. First one peeled with white sticking to shell - darn. Second one half peeled other half a mess. So, minimum of a week and one day then. Next experiment will probably be a week and two days

But it makes you apreciate how old the supermarket eggs are doesn't it?

...needless to say when I peel my fresh, hardboiled bantams eggs(30g) there's not much white left by the time they're peeled!!!!

Needless to say I haven't tried boiling ours yet - we enjoy them fried, scrambled or poached far too much

Cheers Shirl......yesterday you had me craving gooey chocolate pudding and now you've made me go fix myself a rather tasty fried egg buttie!!!.....maybe the diet can start in Spring!
As for fresh eggs....I find if I make a cake with really fresh ones it tends to go a bit crumbly & won't hold together??

ROFPMSL, Sorry Beph I CANNOT believe they are not hiding them.

Anyway, this experiment is because I regularly use nicely shelled HBEs in mediterranean style salads in the summer.

The air that is absorbed by the egg is the separating element and also what makes them go off. Obviously one week is not enough air.

One of my girls laid a tiny quial sized egg today, never ever had one that small before, saving it for DD.

                        CLOSE YOUR EYES Beph!!!

Last week I had a surplus of eggs, so I hard boiled a dozen for pickling. Eggs boiled for 10 minutes, then in icy cold water for 30 minutes. 8 day old ones shelled beautifully, 7 day old were a little bit messy
