  • First Incubator

Just got our first Incubator, I'm about to sit and read the instruction booklet and have already read several books on incubation.

Any advice on using a Covautto 6 eco would be great. Thanks in advance.

All I can say is read the instructions and follow them as best you can. You may need to tweak things like humidity over the seasons until you are used to it. Remember to candle at 7-10 days to see if there are any infertiles.

let us know how it goes tensing, we've allways used the mom knows best method, mainly cos we dont have time to look after an incubator, we usually get about half to two thirds hatching, would love to know how you get on, are you doing ducks or chucks? what kind? how many?

          Hi,

I decided to start with quail mainly becuase of the shorter incubation period. So last Friday I started off 12 Quail eggs in the incubator. Obviously nothing to report yet, but I will keep you all informed.

Quail are tiny when first hatched. When you transfer them to the brooder use a jamjar lid with pebbles in it for water. Anything deeper and they have a tendancy to try and drown. They are the size of thetop part of your thumb!!

            Good luck
