I did a family barbecue for my mum and dad last year, had a cake made etc.
It was sunny! (june) and we all had a lovely day.

(The thing that annoyed me big style was that everyone kept thanking my BROTHER for putting on such a lovely day. And he did NOTHING. He brought 2 charis, and left his beer in the car na dsaid he would get it out if we needed it. It never materialised... I was spitting feathers but had to bit tongue as it was mum and dad's day. Sorry I digress.....)

What about a family dinner or all chip in and pay for a restaurant? If you can get hold of their original bridesmaids and bestman even better

When my Nan and Grandad celebrated their Ruby, they had a surprise family dinner. My aunt and uncle led them to believe that they were going out with them, but when they got to the restaurant, we were all there. It was a lovely night

Thanks for suggestions. I'll definately get a rose bush and hope the girls don't ruin it like everything else in the garden. I'll also look for some of the Valentine stuff. He wouldn't wear jewellery, only a wedding ring (but I will, if I get some! )
We were planning a huge trip to Australia and New Zealand but then I found out there were 2 new grandchildren due Feb and March. One is already here one month early and everything fine but my daughter still has 5 weeks to go and I would never forgive myself if I was on the other side of the world and needed here. (Silly thing is I would also have been worried about my other girls, although I know my neighbour would care for them very well.)
Our family did a surprise party for our 25th but know they won't be arranging something for us this time as we were not expected to be here. (In the country that is, not dead.)
We might still go somewhere as soon as baby has arrived safely.
