Actually, i might get some yellow chooks and paint their feet purple, cos then they'd match their sand pit

good job you found it nicos, i guess that's one of the drawbacks of outdoor chooks,

i guess theres a lot to be said for both methods, just sooooooooo glad you were there in time

                  Well- it's happened again!!!

I can't believe that the two mums in the same nesting box sat on their eggs and let yesterdays chick get cold.

3/4 hr earlier it was fine- and tucked away under a wing
Anyway- knew what to do this time- and the chick was a bit more lively in that it was taking the occasional gasp of breath.
Took a blurred photo- and 1/2 hr later was back with mum chirping away!!

I think you need a special bigger one for brooding!

Are the problems because the mums are inexperienced ? Or should eggs all hatch more or less on same day so there are not eggs and babies to look after at the same time? Whatever the reason I'm glad you were on hand Nicos.

could you set up a lamp of some sort near the nest box so if little one gets out he doesn't get so cold? poor little mite!

Can he not get back in when he gets out? Silly chickens!

I hope you gave them a proper talking to! And glad baby is ok again!
