  • Sexing Welsummers

I know I'm being a bit "previous", but I was wondering if anyone else on here had hatched any Welsummers? I've been reading up on how to sex them, and apparently they can (almost) be sexed at hatching, the girls have more defined stripes and the boys are a bit fuzzier. Anyone got any experience I can tap into please?
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

That was definately the case with my cross breeds hatched back in October, so it may be a good ruling. Saying that it never worked like that on my light sussex, 2 of the boys had spots on there heads and one had white down. So the best way maybe to wait until they cock-a-doodle-doo to be sure.

I love Welsummers, the cockerels are such handsome chaps. Daren't have one on the plot though, if I were to get complaints about crowing I risk being told no chooks at all!!
