Do I feed it dry or dampened? Chicks seem to prefer it dry!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)
I fed all my chicks the food dry, the odd time it did get wet it went nasty very quickly under the heat lamp and the poor chicks had it stuck in there feathers/fluff.
So my advice is dry, oh and also dip there beaks in water just to make sure they know how to drink.
i fed mine it dry till i started adding other things
Like furry elephants and toy JCB's!

It is amazing how quick they do things, they come out of that shell so squashed and contorted you would think they would have to learn from an adult but no they just get on with it.
I just think nature is amazing, I can't wait for my next batch to hatch and see what pops out. I now have a permanant brooder set up and chick crumb at the ready.
Just an update on my last batch from october only 3 hatched and 1 is a cockeral, he isn't really hitting it off with my other 2 cockerals so it looks like he may have to live with the girls next door (lucky him)as he is to small for the pot just yet.
Can't wait to see the piccies (if you get a camera) as I have a soft spot for light sussex.
