Ohhhh, we're all gonna be in suspenders all day again!
I wonder if Welsummers are slow to hatch because the eggs are a quite thick shell? Or if that makes no difference at all...

That might be a possibility Sarah. Anyway there's now 3 definitely pipped and the occasional cheep from 1 of them (think it's the little girl that pipped yesterday)

I'm going to look such a twonk if my sex predictions are totally wrong But it'll be amazing if they're right!

try increasing the humidity a bit more ... have you got a sponge in? apparently if the membrane dries out they can get stuck

Yes got a sponge in and I've been spraying around the edge too. The humidity is at 45%, I don't seem to be able to get it any higher than that

Managed to get it to 68% now but I don't know how long it'll stay like that. I'll just keep spraying every half an hour or so. so much for getting any gardening done today!

snow here as well I'm afraid, but I do have to get in the garden and get the last tree peony planted. The ground isn't frozen so should be fine, and I can chase the girls inside for a while to dry off

Yes, the sponge is in a dish of water and there isn't room to put anything else in. Hopefully "when" one of them hatches and I can take the shell out there'll be a little bit more room to put another little container in but at the moment it's a bit of a squash in there
Humidity's dropped to 55% again now. I've dampened the wood shavings a bit in 1 patch where I think the eggs are duds to see if that'll help

It's lovely sunshine here too, flipping cold though and the hose-pipe's frozen so I've had to carry the water bucket for the big girls today

Not doing anything Just been reading up on another forum and 1 chap said it was 40 hours between pipping and hatching for 1 of his! We're up to 21 hours on the first one now

i know it's not recommended, but could you pull a tiny piece off where it's pipped??? they might get the idea if they can see daylight, or am i just too impatient?
