  • it's official, the babies like their new run

well today, they went out all day, the first time they have been out so long ... they played, they scratched they jumped on each others heads, they climbed on their perches, jumped in the sand pit, made sand castles, ate lots and had a really good time ....... so good in fact, they wouldn't go in the house when it went dark, i got pecked and grumbled at, and they ran round moaning

so i herded them in ..... oh no straight back out .... in the end i had to pick each one up take it out of the run, in through the door, on to the perch and only had put each one up there twice .... i really must sort the pop hole out so i can actually close it from either side.

anyway was pitch black by the time i got them to bed, and i could still hear em moaning when i was going into the house...... so i think their appreciation is unanimous

What time was it when they went in? My lot stayed up till 6:20 today and I still had to push Lavender and Marigold through the door. They'd have gone in on their own if I'd waited another 5 minutes or so
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

about 6.45 i went to shut them in, but they were all still out (and hadn't made any attempt to go in, and they are usually really good at going to bed) ... in the rain lol .....they wouldn't even go in for their tea about 3.30 .... they MADE me put it outside

So they should appreciate all your hard work. My lot were all tucked up by 6 tonight for some reason but it was 6.15 last night. It's very light in the morning now too. Personally I would prefer an extra hour at the end of the day like on the continent.

yeah cos i usually only see dawn from the night end, but then they are usually still in bed till i get up anyway. ...... and i'm certainly not letting them out before i fall asleep lol. .... i guess they'll figure it out eventually, they managed it from the temporary run ok, by themselves, but i think this one is just more fun

seems you have the chook seal of approval then! Look on the bright side all that hard work's paid off. Imagine how you'd have felt if they didn't like it.....
