  • Whoops!!

My finger slipped on ebay again this time I bought goose eggs.

OH just shook his head, then asked if we should think about getting a field.

Big whoops there then How long do you have to incubate them for?
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

could have been worse could have been ostrich eggs
that would have to be some field for them
then you would have to find someone brave enough to sit on them to incubate them hehehehee

28 days, so they will be in with the chickens eggs for the last week of there time, and then 3 weeks after the chickens hatch we should have goslings.

Goose eggs can take up to 5 weeks (and quite possibly more), so don't give up too soon, and remember they need higher humidity (like duck eggs). The plus side is that they only need post-hatching heat for about 10 days, unless the weather is VERY cold.
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

Eeeek... I'm a bit scared of geese.... having been attacked by them several times visiting a friend a few years back. Saying 'boo' to them did Not work! They were better than guard dogs

Geese are used to guard some of the whisky distilleries in Scotland - coz they can't be fobbed off with a bit of bone like dogs can

Well the eggs have arrived and are resting next to the incubator.

I am so excited I could burst, and to be honest a little nervous as well.

So count down starts tomorrow and hopefully hatch day will be when my daughter and grandaughter visit for easter.

DUCK eggs take 28 days (about) Muscovy Ducks a bit longer. Goose eggs definitely need MORE than 28 days, and best of my memory is 35ish.

Well the eggs went in last night (really late) so the countdown begins tonight.

I hope they are fertile and hatch as I can't afford to buy them as adults at the mo so fingers crossed

best of luck! Young geese are quite comic.

I'd like some geese but I daren't risk eating goose eggs after my duck egg episode

I don't think I could manage a goose egg for brekkie each day. Apart from that I haven't got an eggcup or pan big enough!
