Evening all! We are getting round to keeping chickens, have had some experience in the past when I didn't have an allotment. Was wondering, can you put shavings+poo mix on the compost heap??

Thanks for that, presumably just add it to all the other stuff, or do you compost it separately?

You can add it in moderate quantities to the other stuff and it will act as an activator - but if you find you have a lot, you should compost it separately, like horse manure. If you want to dig it in, it needs to be rotted down for a year or two, but in small amounts it can be scattered on the surface and left to weather - much as it would if the chooks were wandering your plot!
EDIT - I stand corrected by SueChooks! I guess it depends on the ratio of poo to bedding.
i stick mine in then a layer of other stuff, though i used some as a mulch over winter in beds i'm not gonna use for a while ..... or you can do it in a seperate heap, weeing on it helps too
