  • fresh eggs

oops- forgot to ask, what is the fresh egg thing with the glass of water? I can never remember if the egg is fresh if it floats or sinks! I found 2 eggs in their run when I cleaned it out at this morning.
    thanks

I think it sinks, not much of an air pocket. The air pocket increases with age so would then float. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

fill a jug or bowl with cold water put the egg in, if it sinks it's fine, if it's half way up it's ok for a bit but needs eating soon, and if it floats chuck it.

if you write the date on the eggs, then rotate them eating the oldest dates first, then you don't get left with bad ones

Unless they're laying more than you can eat

Cannot say more as Lynda put it down nicely - nothing more to add to the discription

Or unless they are laying them in the hedge bottom!

So do you like eating 'old eggs' Lynda?

Better still......keep the freshest for yourself and sell or give away the rest!

well they need to be over 8 days old for boiling snadger, and i like boiled ones .... but i figure i can eat them straight out the nest, but if theres too many to eat, then tis best to use them in order

Yep, I'll agree for boiling and shelling, but not for decapitaing and dipping your soldiers into!
