Nope, if you hard boil a fresh egg you can't peel it cleanly without massacreing it as air hasn't gotten between the membrane and shell - it takes 8 days, proven and tested

Yes older eggs seem to be better for boiling. However a friend of mine suggested adding salt to the water to aid peeling boiled eggs if they are very fresh. I found this works in most in cases. However, I also find it depends on the breed/type of hen that laid it in the first place. My bantam eggs peel more easily than the large fowl, but among the LF one particular Welsummer stands out. Rhodies eggs are rubbish for peeling!!
