Very exited to say that I have just won a coop on ebay, one of these all in one things that look ideal for a newbie to chicken keeping like me.My wonderful OH was watching my watching list on ebay and said go for it ,combined mothers day birthday pressie! He knows how much I would love to have chooks at the end of the garden. He put in bid and we won!!! I think everyone was watching dancing on ice and couldn't tear themselves away.( I was running back and forth like a mad thing!!) But hey it's mine for £ 131, I don't think that's too bad when you price up the wood. Will keep all posted as to the next steps!!!

Yes! Got books for my birthday and have been clearing the ground for them this week( annual leave)Going to get coop tomorrow but have lots to do with ground preparation. I have the remains of lilac stump to dig out and kill of first. You can't rush these things can you. But I am very exited!!!!!Gardening forever- housework whenever

Oh great news! You can't rush these things, true! We've been 'working on the idea' since about October - only 3 weeks to go till we get the chickens!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

It's one of those all in one coop of the ground, box on the side integral run types. But have to admit I'm already looking at making it bigger as there isn't a lot of ground space for the run and I haven't even got the hens yet! Getting exited now- especially as it's all assembled, the lilac stump that was putting up a fight has lost and is out of the ground and the space is ready for them. Just need to do big shop for chook essentialsGardening forever- housework whenever

Congratulations! I looked at ebay and there are some real bargains and some quite lovely coops. In the end a carpenter friend has made ours, though it's far larger than I intended so I'll have to organise far more chooks than I originally planned.Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.
