Hello fellow peeps

Right I've finally got around to posting pics of the new hen house after last weeks madness. They were in by Wednesday thanks to my OH [bless him] New girls [8] are doing well, one has really found her feet and has given my banty cockeral a good thumping poor chap, is that normal
Larger home with two full length perches & 4 nestboxes low down which should [hopefully] stop them kipping & pooping in them Auto Pophole in the door [I can get inside to muck out, yippee!] & an egg shaped window as we were being silly. To top it all I found a battery LED light from Wilkos for a £5 with a remote switch, when or why I would use that I'll never know but I just can't resist a bargain.

yes it's lovely & big, loooaaaads of room for my 18 chooks, they might be cold come winter time, might need some more to keep each other warm [hint hint to my Oh]

What do you recon on my banty Cockeral being beaten up by the new girls; I wnt and broke them up in the end as I was quite sorry for him poor chap, he was doing his best dance too when she took umbrage, well it was second time around as he stood on his own wing and landed in a heap on his first go!

Yep, they have the run of my paddock enclosed by 100m of electric fence, pophole lets them out am & shuts them up pm.

My OH hard work. It has two palletts as the base, keeps it off the floor. Made from 5 sheets 8x4 OSB, glossed inside & stained outside, onduline roof. OSB floor covered with heavy duty lino & sealed edges so I can wash it if need be.

What is that Onduline roof supported on?

Nestboxes will be more popular for laying (and perhaps less popular for pooing) if they have a ceiling.

Basically looks pretty good.

Hi HilaryB,
The onduline is only supported by the OSB which is 28mm but it is screwed down on each 'down' bit. Its much more rigid than I imagined. The henhouse is 5'X3'6'' by 4' at the highest point so not as large as it looks!!

As long as your chooks have you I'm sure they are happy & Where they are is lovely. Has the 4x4 challange been & gone?
