We used electric fencing for 4 years without a single fox attack. The only downside was zapping hedgehogs with it, so used to turn it off at night when the hens were shut up. We now operate on a totally free range basis, but always ensure birds are shut up at night in secure housing. As soon as the birds have gone to bed I am running round shutting all the pop holes.
