Wish I could rehome him Linda but the allotments wont let me have a cock and my neighbours are all army personnel (Therefore sniper trained)

Don't feel bad sweetie, Buttercup has had an absolutely fantastic life, the best that any cockerel could have. This is the reason you hatched the eggs in the first place. You've enjoyed rearing him, we've enjoyed seeing his progress through photos, now it's time for you to enjoy him in a different way. Be brave xxx

You're my inspiration Lynda! I've got a similar thing to look forward to in the future but rest assured it's been going on for thousands of years, you or I, are not setting a trend just doing what needs to be done!

well tis done all plucked and gutted and ready for dinner tomorrow night ... thing is 2 sheds the boys have only been partly pets, yes i would have preferred to rehome them, but i always knew that there was a good chance any boys would be dinner .... luckily i homed 2 of them, which is more than i expected

next time ... they will all look alike, they will not have names and they will not live in my living room lol

think i may have to get some more now ..... tis quite good this having roast dinner on your doorstep .... now he's dead he's meat and i feel ok, tis very quiet with just 3 girls though and they seem a bit lost and confused

weird though for the size of him theres not much meat .... but then theres no fat either .... looks nowt like a shop bird i shall report on the taste tomorrow

Good for you for being practical, you're an inspiration. Maybe you should've eaten the wabbit too!

Well done Lynda. I hope he tastes delicious!

I suspect he doesn't look like a 'shop bird' as you've not been fattening him up specially? What was he eating?

Mind you, at least you have the comfort of knowing where he came from and that he had a good life!

                            Enjoy!!

P.S. We are hopefully getting some meat birds in the next few months

well surprisingly there was plenty for 4 people with a big portion and no fat at all, the meat was quite dark succulent dropped off the bone, and actually tasted of real chicken, proper flavour .... tis definitely recommended .... now i'm hatching a plan to get some young cocks to rear for meat ... never want to eat shop chicken again

he was just eating pellets an whatever he found in the garden and anything else i gave em, plus plenty of protein from meat/cat biccies etc
