.....tonight by our kind neighbour and farmer, was put her out of her misery. She suddenly went down hill yesterday after laying another thin shelled egg so I thought she was egg bound again.
But today she sat around with eyes shut and by this evening she was gaping for breath so me and Hubles decided to ask Shaun to do the deed as it could only be a kindness.
He checked her over and black slime oozed out of her beak so what he thought might have been pneumonia or maybe an respiratory infection turned out to be an infected crop.......I guess me clearing it failed after all I feel rubbish about the whole thing. Even worse it's Hubles hen, named after his beloved dog he lost last march.
