  • New Girls...

    Hiya...

I haven't been posting for a wee bit...life has been a bit hectic.

However, I had to share the new additions with you. We collected them last night....blue copper marans....two of!

We've named them Little Dorrit and Big Bertha...for obvious reasons.

AND....we were given our first egg when we arrived to collect them...so, we won't have that loooooong wait we had with the favs!! lol
I love to talk about nothing. It's the only thing I know anything about!!

They are really pretty birds Beph. How are the getting on with the old hands - or are they separated for the time being?

Nope Flum...I was a real daredevil and just put them all in together...lol. I put the new girls in about 10pm last night...and when they were let out with the favs this morning...it was almost perfect harmony. There has been a few pecks and stuff, but in general they're getting on great...so far...touch wood! *touches my head!*

At the moment they're all lying in the corner of the run basking in the sun...TOGETHER!!

Thankfully the Favs are docile big birds (and if you ask me...big girls blouses!) sooo....for the time being...we have harmony!

RedThorn...I don't know much about the Heritage Skyline...but they look lovely. Apparently they can lay a range of colours...peach, blue, coral, jade, brown & olive??

Are they flighty birds though...I try my hardest to stay well away from light breeds. The marans are sooo flighty compared to the favs. It's a new experience for moi!

Beph I'll watch and let you know about the Skyline (Mine's only been here a week and not seen her go for anyone, but she is a bit more skittish.... The Coral Reef (supposed to lay over 320 white, pinky white or cream eggs per year.) is as placcid and gentle as I have ever seen....

Yeah, I've been off for a while...I don't know if you all know, but my Papa is currently terminally ill with lung cancer. About 3 weeks ago he went downhill and had to be rushed in to the hospice...they told us to fear the worst...so we were by his bedside every minute of every day. Needless to say...he's had more come backs than Lazarus and is now at home again...looking as ok as he can look! So, normality has been resumed for a short period...although we don't expect we've got long with him.

Anyway...enough of that sad stuff, just thought I should tell you all where I'd been.

The Skyline looks and sounds appealing...let me know how skittish she ends up! Going to look up the Coral Reef now!
