Here are the piccies of my goslings last week with my grandaughter and also today.
They have quadrupled there size in two weeks since hatching and are always up to no good. They have nearly out grown there quarters which is 3'x2' so it will be the shed next.
I thought I would update you all now as I have a busy weekend with another 50 chicks due

Considering geese appear to live on a diet mainly of grass, what do you feed them on at that age CS?

Same can be said for some of our own kind I'm afraid colser, they start off really cute and then bang... we end up with the likes of serial killers and the what not.

                    It's a crying shame really.

At hatching they eat non-medicated chick crumb, next week they go on to growers until they about 8 weeks old then onto pasture unil michealmas then they will come back and be fed finishers for the last 6-8 weeks so that they are nicely conditioned for xmas lunch.
I have another 5 due to hatch next week for family and friends who have agreed to dispatch them and dress them for xmas.
They are beautiful creatures and I may keep a couple for breeding for next year to save buying eggs again, as a xmas goose down here cost us £80 last year.

All the chicks arrived safely this morning at 7.30amluckly I was up and about.

If attacked by a gander (it is usually him) pick him up, by whatever you can get hold of (I always grabbed the head, since it was the bit attacking) and let him 'dangle' with his feet off the ground for a few moments. That seems to persuade him that you should not be bothered!
Most become more aggressive when their 'ladies' have babes with them, or if you go too close to the nest where she is brooding.
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
