I've got bluebelles and they are GORGEOUS! Mine were £14 each last year and I think I'd like to borrow a cockerel for them
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

              I know!!!!!..yeessss....

I'm just on the lookout for some POL from a local farmer who might sell them cheaper than the market- and then at least I can see what colour eggs the others in the group are laying.
I'll not be breeding from them, so I don't need thoroughbreds ...so to say...but would love dark brown eggs , not just light/midbrown.
There's a local paper I found out about yesterday with farmers selling stock- so I need to buy one and get sorted!!!

              ...watch this space!!!

I'd just like a 'normal' sized egg for a change ( 35-40g now)...one which fits into an eggcup!!!..being dark brown would be extra spesh

Where in Cambs, there is a breeder that advertises at a feed shop in Fulbourn for those prices. Would love a couple of new ladies this year. (Aiming for multi breed flock for diff colour eggs)

In Welney here's the link maplecroftpoultry.co.uk - Hybrids

I also thought of Legbars but the hybrids are a bit tougher and better layers - all important when they have to earn their keep

I'm starting to have leanings in this direction myself. Just going to start out with the bog-standard egg layers, but I'm sure a couple of Welsummers were on my list for next week... I've changed my mind so often the poor chap at the farm doesn't know whether he's coming or going and I can't remember what I ordered either.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

DD really likes the Bluebelle so we will be dropping the Pie. Starting work on His Lordship this evening, he'll be in a good mood as he's Clerk of Course at a trial today
