  • It's happened!!

First egg has arrived small but perfectly formed!! It really is exiting when you see that first one- a big surprise. Don't know why really 'cos that's what they do,isn't it? It is quite reassuring though that their diet must be OK,doing something right! I wish I knew who laid it

    YAY! Well Done chickens!

No, it is tricky to work out who laid which! Took me a while - you have to know what's in house, who's been in and did they leave anything behind!

With our girls, I thought large white bird laid they large pale egg, and the little brown hen laid the little brown egg. How wrong was I!!

Three of our four are laying. I think I know who isn't!
Nothing like the first egg though is there. We spent the rest of the day telling them how clever they were!

Glad i'm not the only one to say thank you to the girl's each time I get an egg.
Yesterday was the first time that all 4 had been laid whilst I was out, usually only get 2 when i'm out.
So they got extra special treats yesterday and a big thank you, still working on the hugging, but they seemed happy enough to just run at me for the mealworms.

Starting to get jealous now. I'm picking my girls up on Saturday afternoon and if I don't find an egg Sunday morning...

If only it was that easy Colser! One of mine hasn't been laying since Dec, am hoping warmer weather & plenty of sun will start the egg production again but am getting confused as both seem to disappear into hen house for a bit in the mornings - but still only one egg a day?

Think they are trying to confuse me just in case one is destined for chop! (I couldn't! Can't speak for hubb!)

Had my little egg soft boiled for brekkie along side one my sister sent down from Yorkshire via my parents after an Easter visit.Hers are pros, lovely sized egg, very yellow yolk. Bit disappointed there's none today, I ran up that garden path as well! Roll on tomorrow,I've had a chat with them and we'll see how things go!! ( I still love them though)
