I'm working on selling the egg's, but have no idea of how much to charge.
I have passed some along the road side selling a dozen for 2, the cheapest I have seen is a dozen for 1.80
I don't want to charge over the top prices, but enough to cover their needs. Which isn't a lot, but any extra help moneywise is good from where i'm sitting right now.
I've got a sign by my gate that says "Fresh Eggs from Happy Hens". I sell mine at 1 for half a dozen. One chap even gave me 2 because he said the quality was far superior to supermarket free-range eggs. I have a few "regulars" and that goes towards the feed bill but mostly my family come over and take a dozen with them each time . Other friends buy me a sack of feed every so often in exchange for the eggs they have on a weekly basis
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there
I have to say this has been and is an amazing source of info. You are all such a clever, knowledgeable, informative lot out there!! I've found we all have our own 'thing' and that if I need to find something out fairly quickly someone here will know the answer. Back to the reason we keep chooks,my idea is that they are part of the gardening process, manure etc, and eating the left overs.hope fully the will keep things goingxx
I've 3 signs, one is on A3.... "Happy Hens, Free Range Eggs, 6=1".
I have a big polystyrene box in the drive and the customers drive in, take the eggs out and leave the money and, due to the sign on the box which says "Be Green Please Return Empties", I get the boxes back and also some that have been saved for me if they've had to go elsewhere 'cause I've sold out
