  • My Girls are Home... Finally!

At last my girls are here! Four copper marans who are stunning.......and two ickle baby Silkie x Sussex hens. We've just popped home for lunch and left them to settle into their houses, but everything seems fine. We're having to keep the Silkie/Sussex growers separate, but the temporary accomodation which Coco and Elvis have been in for the past few weeks just needed a quick clean before being pressed back into service.

    I knew this would happen.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I'll see if my friend will take the piccies, I don't do digital, but she's already taken a fair few of Coco and Elvis, I'm sure she'll soon be there to see the others.
          Right, I have:-
1 Copper black marans called Esme,
2 Copper Blues (Gytha and Agnes)
          1 Splash (Magrat)
Plus Perdita and Tiffany the Sussex/silkies. I'd love to put them all together, but these two are tiny 7 week old growers and Coco could flatten them just by not looking where he's walking. We originally popped them in Coco and Elvis' old house, but then gave in and brought them home and they're living in a rabbit hutch in the shed as I think it will be a bit toastier in there for now. OH has rigged up a perch and they were snuggled up together when I came indoors. I'm going to bed myself in a mo, didn't sleep last night, like a kid on Christmas Eve.
Coco and Elvis didn't quite know what to make of their new girls. They stood together in a corner for a while, with the girls in another corner, eventually Coco plucked up courage to wander over. I assume he said something along the lines of 'Ere my mate fancies you' because it didn't go down too well, but they all ate their bedtime oats together and have settled down well for the night.

lmao, I can just imagine Coco doing that and how funny that would look!

Glad everyone is settled, and now for you to rest yourself. You know you're gonna checking on the 2 little one's constantly now, you need all the energy you can get!

What a little family you've got there. I love the names too (but you knew I would! )

They are all well this morning, though all of them seem a little confused (even Coco and Elvis). It must be like when we wake up in a strange bed. I still remember our first house when we got married, a dormer bungalow, it took me months to get used to the fact that the ceiling was 2ft above my face every morning. (I got used to the snoring, duvet pinching thing beside me far quicker)

Best friend is off work this week, so I'll organise the piccies when she takes her camera to the plot. Sorry, I still insist on film, I suppose I'll have to give in and buy a digital one some day soon, but the decent digital SLRs are soooooo expensive.
Anyway, everyone seems to have passed a comfortable night at Graceland. The boys had a bit of a squabble last night, but seem to be back on good terms this morning. To be honest I was worried that they'd argue a lot more than this once the girls arrived, and after 24 hours of looking stunned they did start facing up to each other a bit - though the initial cause of that was them both eating the same blade of grass, Lady and the Tramp spaghetti style, and ending up eyeball to eyeball. That resulted in a few minor tiffs, but when we let them - and not the ladies - out for a wander they just ignored each other and had calmed down by the time they went back to the run.

Just how much do you want from a camera? How 'quality' is your film user (and how expensive would one like it be)?

Glad the mob are settling together!
