  • Eggs have arrived

One of my new chooks has layed for the last 2 days, a bit of the small side but very tasty. The well trained girl even had the sense to go back into her coop and lay in her nest even though she has been digging holes all over the garden to relax in and i was sure she would be laying in them.
......... the girls manahed to eat their way through most of my strawberry plants though, so it's some you win some you loose

Exciting the first one, isn't it? They''ll soon get the hang of it. Although mine aren't all laying yet.I think the Magpie hasn't yet performed. Our eggs are on the small side as well at the moment, they're just practicing!

I got my first eggs 8 days ago - wonderful! Yesterday, after another sulky Saturday, Amber, the smallest and palest of the hybrids (different Mum?) spent ages in the nest box. When I checked there were 3 eggs but one was like a shop egg - medium to large! No wonder she felt a bit queer! She's in there now - the others have already laid I think, and are pacing up and down like expectant dads. I'm waiting for someone to hand out the cigars!
