I broke my toe last night and it huuuuuuurrrrrts. It took me ten minutes to hobble from the car to the lottie at 5.30am this morning to let the chickens out. Stayed with them for a couple of hours, then went home, phoned in sick and went back to bed. . Just off back there now for the last hour or two before dusk and to make sure they're secure, but I think work will be impossible again tomorrow.

Well work is definitely out because what with the swelling and the strapping I can't get my shoes on.... I can get OH's wellies on though . I have to go to the plot tonight because the boys are squabbling so much now that it's starting to worry me - though I knew it was likely to happen once the girls arrived - so tonight I'm afraid we're going to have to separate them. Elvis is going back into his temporary accommodation for a few days until the new hen house is ready, but he'll be able to see and hear the others so I hope he's not going to be too lonely. The trouble is he's half the size of Coco and would come off worst in a serious scrap, he's really gentle too. Once the new hen house is here he will live with the little growers who I 'accidentally' bought on Saturday. See, it worked out well in the end.Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.
