We were given 3 Barred Rock day old chicks a couple of years ago and they were such fun to raise.
Once they were at the stage of needing a cage, Stan the dog got turfed out of his crate (he did still have a basket!) and they lived in there until they could go outside.
Interestingly out of the whole flock (currently 13), they are the ones who are often together. I found them all sunbathing in a big stripey heap yesterday! There's something to be said for being sisters and not just being introduced to the flock at the same time.

I know, just don't tell the old man! I haven't told him how big they don't get!
Not to mention he's already complaining about the feathers on their feet, saying they gonna get wet and muddy. (They can be cleaned)
But they are just the most adorable things you could imagine.

Even the kids have taken to them, never seen 3 boy's go gooey eyed over something before (except for sweets and ice cream of course).

Perhaps you could do a kebab?

If it's any consolation, my Elvis has feathered legs and feet, they do get a bit muddy, but it soon dries out, falls off and you'd never know.

I just hope you have two girls...or two boys...because introducing one hen to an existing flock is a pain in the ar$e!!

How old do they need to be before introducing them to my existing one's?
If I put both in at the same time then I spose it will be better for them and the other's.

It's gotta be easier to take one away than to introduce one single hen.

I was reading a piece from FHW and it stated that the babies can go outside during the day from 6 weeks, but to bought back indoors for the night... and placed in sight of the others but not with them.

Are you allowed cockerels where you live? I wouldn't imagine so as the pic you posted had houses backed on to you. You'll obviously have to get rid of the little man then before he starts to crow...seeing as you have a horrible neighbour who's looking for an excuse to report your chickens...right?

Who knows...you might be lucky and have two girls!!

People do keep Pekins as pets though so perhaps you'd have more luck in rehoming a boy than you would with a bog-standard Light Sussex. I'd give it a go anyway before turning him into a chicken nugget.

Yeah, one comb is bigger...you might have a cockerel there. Still, you should have a success re-homing a pekin. If you can't re-home him have you considered what you'll do? Are you able to cull your own birds? You won't get much of a feed from a pekin though...lol....
