  • Elvis Has Left The Building.

We sadly had to separate Coco and Elvis last night as their squabbling was becoming too much. Elvis, at half the size of Coco, was always going to come off worst if anything serious happened and he seems much perkier now he's on his own - although he can still see and hear the others. I let him out for a wander this morning and he didn't seem at all interested in what was happening in the big run, but followed my OH dog-like round the plot. We're having a new house made and it should be ready by next weekend, so at that point I'm going to introduce him to the two growers I bought last Saturday. I wouldn't have let Coco near the growers yet because he's just too big and fabulous and he knows it, - and likes everyone else to know it too - but Elvis is a gentler soul so I can probably do it. I was hoping the situation wouldn't get too bad until next weekend and that we could keep them together at least until then, but I was worrying about it all the time and think separating them now was probably the right decision.

I felt bad about doing it and felt really sorry for him when I put him on his own, but he does seem much more relaxed now and it's only for a very short time.

So the new coop will have to be Graceland - and the old one re-named?
I'm sure he'll settle well once he has his own harem!

I was hoping so too, but it had reached the point where I was worried about what I might find every time I visited the plot. I was very reluctant to split them up, but in the end had to make the decision to do it before I found one of them (probably Elvis) injured. He seems happy enough and we're making lots of fuss of him and giving him extra treats, I think he'd reached the point where he was always looking over his shoulder and seemed to be quite nervous and he's much more relaxed now. They'd always had minor squabbles over grapes and treats, but these past few days - since the girls arrived, - it had grown much more serious and a lot of the fights seemed to be unprovoked. When we picked them up from you Coco was the biggest, but the size difference wasn't huge, but Elvis doesn't seem to really have grown much whereas Coco has grown in height and has filled out a lot. He is rather an impressive cockerel.
