I'd give up on the chickens and geese and stick to growing veg. Take them home and keep them in your garden like you suggest. If it is a human introducing animals like ferrets they'll most likely do it again. Especially if its from the local housing estate that gets wake up call every morning.

Have a think about why this person you believe has been involved wants you off the site. Maybe you've discussed this before on here? Try keping a low profile on your site, doing your own thing and keeping your head down. Causing more agro won't help you or make you feel better.

I can't understand how someone can kill an animal like that, in cold blood, for kicks/revenge. Poor chickens, poor Matthew.

This happened at our favourite zoo last weekend: SICK THUGS SLAUGHTER 50 ANIMALS AT KIDS' ZOO - mirror.co.uk

That zoo story sounds like a complete nightmare!

Was absolutely shocked to hear of your news...
Being a chookie-keeper I have had the sleepness nights and nightmares of neighbourhood cats getting hold of our two girlees.....
It's beyond comprehension that someone could do such a thing and I hope you stand your ground and keep your plot.
Bullies will be found out and brought to justice accordingly. As said by someone else - the chickens would have made enough racket to be heard by others so there will be witnesses. Hopefully the local paper will help flush out that chicken-killer!

Best of luck to you anyhow...our girlees are with us in our back garden and it's fun to see them run towards us in the hope for treats! (No such luck 'til they're both back in lay!!!)

They do it 'because they can', and usually they see it that way because they know how incapable they are of doing anything more constructive.
Making anything requires effort, destruction is so much easier.......

I'd say both you & Maureen have been hit by mink!! I often find wild waterfowl/plover decapitated, which is a minks trademark. Maureen actually losing 3 is unusual but they will hunt in family groups before the young disperse. They are hard to take in live traps & gin traps etc. aren't very pc plus an hazard to other harmless stuff like hedgehogs. Sitting up with a shotgun seems the only solution. We live only yards from a river & the thought's of mink around terrify us.

Sorry to shatter your theory shadegrow, but the scuff marks up the fence, the claw marks on the top of the fence, and the size of the paw prints in the wet soil all point 100% to a fox. Also the way that the remaining corpses were stacked neatly by the fence ready to be collected later is a fox trait (apparently!). It had carried 3 of them away and I don't think minks would do that. A few feathers have been found on the way towards his den. His wife and youngsters had a good feed that night.

Sorry for the graphic detail everybody

The graphic detail is fine by me, Mo. And it helps us all as we all face these problems. My nest-box certainly has a padlock now. Hope you're feeling a little better today, love BM.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Aunty Mo it's by sharing the good and the bad that we all benefit and learn.

My thoughts are with both of you.

Matthew, Not sure if it's the 2 or 4 legged kind that got/started it off, but good on you for not giving up! When you can get a brooding pair of geese stick them there and keep your girls at home for the moment.....

Pity Taser's are illegal here otherwise you could rig something up to give the person/aminal a bit of a shock without being fatal!
Never test the depth of the water with both feet

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory....

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.
