It does need a roof unless you use netting which works because they cant land on it and jump over. Here is what we have done with scaffolding netting and stakes of wood. Like a windbreaker type of sheild. We staple the net to the wood, easy and quick to make and works a treat

Originally I left the top bits off, but it was kind of flapping around and so teh mizus asked me to neaten it up.

Chickens are like po-go sticks. They'll jump as high as the sky.

You might need a roof :-)

Clipped wings or wings intact - they'll have them!

Looks a like a great Version 1. I'm on version 3 at the moments lol If you pop a roof on it, make sure it's high enough above the plants that they don't strip the top vegetation.... and It'll stop the pigeons too Looks great and well made though.

I know what you mean seasprout! Our back garden is chicken territory! My veg beds have 2foot side supports covered in netting and netting on top. It keeps cats and chickens out.

Asparagus pot moved to side of house as with strawberry tubs and my seedlings as you are asking for carnage if you leave them in sight of the chickens.
