Are they the same as Legbars,in that the cock carries the blue egg gene?
Am hoping it might help in finding homes for our ickle chappies!(one of the chaps that was going to have two has backed out!...he's just hatched several chickies himself!)
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.

Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.xx

i think they both have the blue egg gene ?? but instead of it being a coating like the brown with marans .... it goes right the way through the shell

I went for the Minorca cuz they look pretty and the Jersey Giants cuz they're a good dual purpose bird. Grow-my-own Christmas dinner this time? Hmmmm we'll see
I got some vorwerk eggs at the poultry auction last Saturday as OH thinks they are beautiful birds. I wanted to buy adults but my budget just wouldn't stretch that far. So instead I bought another incubator and 48 eggs marans (copper blacks and blue splash, white orpingtons, vorwerks, light sussex) and at the moment I have 4 buff orpington chicks and a creamcrested legbar cockeral and more cream crested hatching. I am quite lucky as I have people that order certain breeds I hatch them and I get to keep the excess.

nah start planning the next batch once the incubator is empty more fun than panicing
Never test the depth of the water with both feet

Ooh Aunty Mo! I was drooling over the Jersey Giants I want some but have already got more eggs than will fit in my incubator (yep marans again!) decided not to bid as they were quite pricey and hubbie would have a hissy fit... I did get some Brahma's cheap but thats 'cos my marans are not going broody so I'm after a big fluffy mum for next years babies... thats what I told OH anyway <g>

I got them for the starting price, she'd put 2 lots on and the first one got all the bids They've arrived today and are just getting up to room temp before I start them off. Fingers crossed for a good hatch!

Don't worry, I'm still waiting for another lot to arrive and get up to temperature and I'll put them all in together (well that's the plan so far!) The 2 lots that have arrived are quite small so they should all fit into the 'bator. I tried getting 18 "usual" (for me) sized eggs in and could only get 16 in comfortably

                                Obviously way too late but....

eggs that have come through the post should rest for at least 12 hours and preferably 24 before going in the incubator...

fingers crossed for your babies (and mine!)
