  • Blackrocks in Manchesterish area?

After the sad departure of Ginger, Ive decided now get a couple more chickens to replace her. I figured safety in numbers for new arrivals!

Now that Ive got the separate housing and run sorted so that we can introduce them gradually to Cinnamon and Nutmeg, Im looking for somewhere to get them from.

I got our last lot from Blackpool but this time around Im thinking of getting a couple of Blackrocks and wanting to get them from somewhere more local.

Can anyone recommend anywhere? Thank you.

I've had a Black Rock from Creag Mhor Poultry in Nantwich if that's near enough for you? I've had her since September and she's laid every day since October.
Also had POL hens from Garden poultry in Kingsley near Frodsham/Delamere Forest. Not sure if they have Black Rocks but prob have something similar.

theres an apparent distinct lack of chicken breeders in manchester, there is a poultry auction in macclesfield though .... and there is a bloke with chooks of different varieties in stockport, dunno if he does full grown birds though he has previously advertised day olds ... he sells eggs on ebay and has lots of varieties, dunno if he has black rocks though, you could give him a ring he may have something or be able to point you in the right direction?? ..0161 449 8123

I'm hoping that once they start laying (they're only 15 weeks) I'll have a few fertile eggs to hatch out. I know they won't breed true with them being a hybrid, but they should produce some interesting progeny. Besides, they're all (including Basil) really pretty

Google black rock and you will find a list of approved breeders.
