Hi All,
I've been a member of Grapevine for quite a while now due to my ever expanding allotmenteering! However yesterday I collected two ex-battery hens from Little Hen Rescue so just wanted to introduce myself. I've kept hens before but had rather a long break from it until my long-suffering partner gave in and agreed I could get some. I've called them Margo and Barbara and since putting them in their house last night at 7pm (it was quite late when we collected them) we've had three eggs!!! One soft shelled but all the same! They seem quite happy and are already picking at the grass and other greens. Wish I could post some pics, they are so bald and underweight! Will keep you posted on their progress. Edited as I forgot to say poor Barbara has her wing bound up with packing tape (This Way Up) !!! as the tip had been broken and the large flight feathers were dragging the break apart so hopefully this will hold it in place til it heals!
