  • Chickens & Lighting

My chooks are in a shed with a window that faces a street light, the council switch the light off between midnight and 7 in the morning. My question is, should I put up a blind/shutter to block out the light to give them a rest for a few months through the winter? At the moment only two of them are laying and it is nice to get fresh eggs but I don't want to wear out my two best layers.

Make the most of the freeish light and seven hours sleep is enough for everybody.

Cheers guys. Henrys just gone off the lay, havn't had any from her since I put up the post. Lucy Lou the supper hen is still laying everyday, she's the best chook anyone could ask for, keeps the cockerel in order, lays all year, tame enough to take worms from your hand and she even taught me to speak chicken
