Hybrid broody.......again!

Well folks, one of my hybrids has went and done it again..........methinks she's broody.
Went to collect some eggs and there she was.........puffed up and spitting venom at me. Managed to get the eggs from under her but left a tiny one and a broken one.

My dillema is do I quickly buy some eggs from eBay and stick them under her? If she decides broodiness is not for her, can I transfer the eggs to my incubator mid term?
Last time one of my hybrids went broody (could be tush again, I suppose?) she sat full term on 6 eggs I got from eBay, but the eggs must have been duff and none hatched.

She WAS a good Mum Maureen, sitting for the duration, just no chicks at the end of it!

Yes you can transfer them to the incubator if she fails to last the course. Just make sure you know what day they are on. I've done it in reverse, when we had a power cut, and then back again when the hen's first eggs hatched (she was due a couple of days earlier than the incubator eggs) so she could get her first chicks off and feeding. I then put the chicks back again once they had hatched in the incubator. All eggs hatched without a hitch despite the travelling!

We just kept a couple of unfertile eggs under Marigold to keep her broody,but were advised to get wooden ones instead...TBH the unfertile ones worked just fine!

I know you're probably far more forward planning than me...but don't forget to give her a good dusting down with anti mite powder before she starts sitting!...even if you don't think they're there...we didn't!

Haven't been to lottie yet to check if she's still sitting? If she is, there's a likelyhood I'll get a few bites cos I have to lift her out and clean out a broken egg from under her! I then intend changing the straw where she's been sitting and see if she returns to the nest.............if she does......then I'll order some eggs. Luckily she's sitting in a small broody hut I have set up inside the run so it's a perfect place really!

Haven't made my mind up yet but I fancy some Silver Laced Wyandottes or some LF Indian game!

If I catch you before you go...Dandelion was really vicious whilst broody.A chap with a lifetimes experience came & showed us how to handle her...and it kind of worked!
Basically get some thick gloves on & let her have a few pecks at your hand,whilst calmly chatting to her...fingers crossed she'll calm down enough to let you pick her up!Like I say,it "kind of worked" with Dandelion.

To cut a long story short she's all tucked up sitting on three unfertilised eggs until I get some from eBay!

An update..........just bought 6X Black Minorca hatching eggs off eBay! They are on the RBST critical list as far as being rare breeds.
Largest of the Spanish birds with white eggs!

They are beautiful birds Snadger, good luck I hope she sits well on them and they hatch this time, as I think she deserves a little clutch to take care of.
