Well I got my 3 ex-batts yesterday and what a palaver ..... nothing was ready for them because I had been let down by a couple of people. So I spent this morning in the pouring rain trying to sort out their run before I could let them out. They only have half a run covered in shavings at the moment; the rest they can have when they move out of their rabbit hutch and into a proper chook house (one of the problems was that the person who was supposed to be making the house for me bailed out at the last moment).
The poor things - they were shivering last night so I went and put one of those foil blankets over the hutch. I have covered the front of it with a towel when they go in at night. They don't have any feathers on their neck or breast yet. How long will it take for their feathers to grow?
They all laid eggs this morning although one girly stomped on hers and broke it. I was horrified at first because I thought I had an egg-eater but I think it was an accident. I am amazed that they laid after such a stressful day yesterday, being collected from the battery farm and having a long car journey.
They have been named Rita, Deidre and Mavis!
How much are they supposed to eat? They seemed to spend all day today munching on their layers mash! I have been in to feed them four times to try and get them used to me. They have stopped running away now, which is a good sign! How long will it be before I can start training them to linedance so that we can go on Britain's Got Talent next year?lol.
I am going to take some photos this week so will put them on here asap so everyone can see my girls and how beautiful they are going to be!
