I've been and gone and done it ...... again I'm going to get 5 more girls on Sunday from Ian and Mollie at Coventry. I'm so so so excited!!!! Anyone would think I'd never had a chicken before
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there
It'll be 12 ex-batts, 5 Bluebelles and 6 Welsummers. Oh yes, and 5 chicks
I sold 2 Welsummers last week through a friend, but the new owner has told my friend that they keep attacking the Silver Birchens she got at the same time. So, the Wellies are coming back home
OMG that means I'll have 28!!! Better get these chicks grown up and sold on so I can hatch some more

ROFL, 28........ you're catching up Aunty Mo, not bad considering it's because of you I got my first batch, say hi to Ian and Mollie, they're doing a grand job.

LOL. I see on the BHWT website that our 'local' person is back in harness (I understand she had a sprog break) so I will be contacting her to find out if there are any rescues likely round here this year.
Maureen! - What are you going to do with all the eggs???
Just 1 egg right now would be great!!!!! Besides, if I DO happen to have too many, I've got customers waiting patiently for my extras (bet they've been buying supermarket ones lately though)
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there
Well I told my youngest daughter (she of the 7 ex-batts so far) what I was going to do and immediately she phoned Ian and asked for 5 more
Ian (at Coventry) said that the farmer isn't willing to let just 500 birds go, he has to take the lot (2000+) or none at all!!! So, if anybody could give a home to some of these girls, and they're not too far away from Coventry (or Stafford, I'll drop some off for you) then get in touch "toot sweet"

Oh, I do hope he manages to find homes for all the birds - but 2000 hens, that's a lot of homes to find
.......that IS a lot of chooks.
I can't help with the 2000, but I might be getting one lonely battery chook. The falconry where DD works is attached to a children's pets corner (as part of a larger attraction) and they have ex-batts. One is being terribly picked on and they are trying everything to integrate her into the flock. If all fails then I've agreed to have her here, on a trial basis, to see if she'll fit in with our four. I'm hoping we do get to have her here, and that my girls accept her.
Not quite up to Mo's Herculean efforts, but not bad for a total beginner. Big SHOUT for Aunty Mo!
