Ok...I know I said that above, but I'm not sure now. Mavis definitely wants to sit on eggs...I keep taking her off, she keeps going back on. She's mad for it!
Now, two of my FERTILE eggs got broken today because of the other girls jumping in with Henrietta, so I've put her in her own box and will let her out twice daily.
So, guess the question is...should I let Mavis sit on some araucana eggs (both my araucana eggs were broken today) or should I sin bin her.
Suggestions needed...desperately!!!

Bephlam it's entirely up to you, we can't tell you what to do. If you don't mind her being broody then let her have some eggs of her own to hatch, otherwise sin-bin her. Good luck with whatever you decide though

Oh Noooo Aunty Mo...what would you do?? lol You lot always tell me what to do...and vice versa!
I don't mind about the drop in egg production - I really don't. But, I'm unsure...
C'mon peeps...just your opinions...what you would do if you were me type thing. We've always been an opinionated lot on here, don't let that change in my hour of need...he he!!

Do you really want lots of cockerels? If you don't mind, then get her some of her own eggs - well that's what I'd do anyway Let her practice for a couple of days with some unfertilised eggs first though, just to make sure she's not going to change her mind

I definitely don't want lots of cockerels, but I don't want to sin bin her. She's sitting on empty eggs just now...stuck tight, pulled all her chest feathers out...getting a bit nippy, etc etc. She's definitely broody...so, I think I'll put some eggs under her. If I get cockerels I'll have to deal with it...it's all part of chicken keeping!

We have our second batch of chicks due in two weeks time....so the waiting hasn't fully ended.
If it'll cheer you up any frias...it doesn't seem like 3 weeks when you're waiting on it happening. You have lots to keep you busy...like candling, etc. It'll be here before you know it...and you'll have little chickies running around!
