  • Puffed up hybrid -being picked on

I noticed she had been in the nest box all day. Just a moment ago we noticed she had come into the run and was completely puffed up like a fan and the other chickens started pecking her.

We let them out into the garden as a distraction with some corn and as soon as the corn went they went looking for her and started pecking her again

I have put her in another run on her own as I couldnt stand them picking on her.

    ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE

Well some questions first before giving any suggestions. How old is she? How long has she been with you (and the other chooks). Is she laying yet? Does she look as if she could be broody? Is she in the others' favourite nest box? Is she eating and drinking? Is she pooing ok?

Sorry to bombard you with all that lot, but it really could be a number of things and the remedies are all different

Puffed up and being in the nest box suggests broodiness to me. However, broodies usually have the upper hand and drive away any other hens, rather than the other way round. Runny poos not good - have they been wormed? If not do that and keep an eye on her.
