Well, I've had Mavis, Rita and Deidre for two weeks today. So many people have told me that chickens are dim but it hasn't taken my three long to learn that the large wingless chicken with the odd bok (ie me!) turns up a few times a day with goodies! Rita especially has learned what the mealworm packet looks like and she now jumps up and down and pecks it when I carry it into the run.

They are making life difficult for me when I am poo-picking because they follow me round sticking their beaks into everything lol! They are starting to eat out of my hand too - although they go a bit crazy and it feels like I'm about to be pecked to death

I am really enjoying them. Although I think I may need to buy a second compost bin soon! Oh, they are so sweet!

Yeah, that's a myth. The whole 'chickens are stupid' thing must have been said by someone who has never owned chicken. Mine are very smart, to the point they actually watch for us walking past the kitchen door (glass) and screech on the off chance we'll pop out and give them a treat!

They are clever...but also very very dim!

They soon cotton on to anything that seems to spell food don't they. They aren't so dim that they can't train humans!

I love the way my girls now rush up to the fence when I arrive! I know it's cupboard love, but it's lovely to be wanted!

mine know when DH car pulls up on the drive and they rush to get to him cause they know he'll give them a bit of corn they're not daft just a bit dippy sometimes
