Are Chickens Thick?

If you were a chicken and you found a lovely, juicy caterpillar in the long grass and you shared the run with a five other hens and one very greedy cockerel would you: A, Gobble it down quickly before anyone noticed or, B, lift it high in your beak for all to see then run around being mobbed by your coop-mates, usually losing it in the process? Me, I'd go for option A, but that's probably because I'm greedy, but so are most chooks so why do they ALWAYS choose option B?
They also play Chicken Rugby, a version of the above, but with a feather replacing the caterpillar, this is obviously inedible so the game can last for hours and they save the feather overnight and play with it for days. It's too hot today to even watch them.

Well obviously they have to run around with their prize otherwise how would the other chooks know how clever they had been?! Duh!

Mine often have a four way tug of war with a slug. Makes for fun, but messy viewing

They did it with a slug today, then again with a moth. There's the cackle of delight then the scrum, then whoever comes out with the prize runs around squawking --- add so ad infinitum! (or till someone manages to gobble it down)

I cooked & cooled about 8 strands of sketti, cut them in half and threw them into the chook run one at a time. Oh. My. God!! Haven't laughed so much in ages!

Everyone ended up in the garden to see why I was almost hysterical with laughter. That has to be one of the funniest things I have ever seen! Pity sketti is so high in carbs or I'd do it every day.

The funniest bit was watching a chook with a strand of sketti try to pinch another strand with her beak full.

Yup i'd go with the thick option!

I have seven girls so i treat them to at least seven cherry toms.....first one nabs one an then they are all off on their merry little chase....very amusing.

I think thats partially the reason why we love our girls, the comedy value is priceless!
