Gold legbars lay pure white eggs. They are a mix of leghorn and barred plymouth rock. I've not got any (yet) but a local breeder here does them. They are pretty too. Also autosexing at hatch.

I'm after Cream Legbars for blues at the moment, may consider Skylines - I think those are various pastel colours

Kirsty @ Hens4homes (Happy Hens) does Skylines @ £20 and according to her website: Heritage Skyline - blue, green, peach or cream eggs

Araucana are your original blue egg layers - Cream Legbar have some Araucana blood in them so they get the blue eggs.
There's a place in Cambridge that have different Araucana's (ARCHIES LITTLE GEMS Home) No idea of prices though.

Sainsbury sell Old Cotswold Legbar eggs and they are blue-olive green and taste fantastic! I want a blue egg layer too! & maybe a dark brown one too!

Hayley - I've hatched 3 cream legbar males and 2 females. I won't be needing the males as will get an unrelated one next year for putting with the girls.

My brother lives near St Neots so if you want a male I can bring one over when I'm visiting.

                Thank you all,

The "little ballerina's" are now home and settling in suprisingly well considering the majority of comments on this thread. I will try to take some photo's. We now have:
1x pale brown egg (magpie hybred)
1x slightly darker brown egg (Sussex)
                2x white eggs (white star)
                1x blue egg (Aracuna)
                2x Chocolate egg (Wellsummers)

                Collection complete. (for now.......!?!)

Till someone breeds a chicken that lays purple eggs. Then you're going to HAVE to have one of those aren't you?

i wouldn't be able to resist.

Having these It does make knowing who's laying and who's not a lot easier with the different coloured eggs.

That's true. All mine look the same (eggs that is - the girls are very different if you know them well!)

Picking up a couple of POL White Star chickens tomorrow to complete our flock. Does anybody have these birds and if so what are they like to keep. Friendly ? Skitty ? etc etc

I have 4 (out of 6) White Star chickens from an ex-commercial flock, they go mad when I start to walk down the garden toward them, once the door is open they are all around my feet - they have never been skittish (as the 2 bantams I have are) they feed from my hand, like being stroked and love being picked up. I don't sure if they are like this because they were from a commercial flock or because of their breed but I wish I had brought 2 more of them (only £2.50 each) instead of the bantams!

Tiny, Tiny, Tiny, £2.50 !!?!! Mine were £14......

Still they are sweet little things who are fitting in very nicely given we have only had them a couple of days. I think they are going to be fine apart from trying to catch them if we need to. They are like a miniture road runner....
