  • I'm a Foster Mummy :)

Had a panic phone call today from a friend who has Orpington chicks of various ages and sizes. One Blue Orpington cockerel is just a bit too big to stay with the little ones (friend thinks he might have accidentally squashed one during the night - one little one was dead this morning anyway) and just a bit too small to go in with the bigger ones. "Please Auntie Mo, can you help me out?". So, quick email to Bramble Poultry to ask if I can borrow a couple of 6 week old chicks to keep said Orpy company, and hey presto 1 brooder housing 3 foster chicks

I won't add them to the "How many chooks have we got" thread because they're not mine, just temporary lodgers

They all seem to have settled in well together I think. It's a bit hot in the conservatory this afternoon (makes a change!!) so I've put them in the garden in the dog-cage for a little while They'll be tired out tonight

Shirl, you can come and have a snuggle of the babies Anyone can come here and cuddle a chook, they're all really snuggly

I second that - Maureens birds are lovely - all very friendly and cuddly - thnaks for letting the kids play in your garden this afternoon and cuddle your chickens (anyone would think that there aren't hundreds here to cuddle!)

Hehehe - well they probably think they have hit the big time being allowed outside on the grass!!!
