I rehomed 3 more ex-bats about 3 months ago and they are doing well - two are feathering up well, but one has a few straggly looking tail feathers and a red, bare back & bottom - she doesn't appear to be plucking herself, neither does she get any unwelcome attention from any of the others...does anyone have any suggestionsb as to why she's a baldly bum?

One of mine was like that and my vet suggested it might be some sort of fungal infection. We tried a combination of Sudacrem and Canestan which worked for her. I'd tried Aloe Vera and that helped a bit . She feathered ok after and still has good feathers but usually has a bit of a mucky bum which needs a wash every so often. -

One of mine's the same after nearly 10 months, but she's also laying loads of softies. I think it's a combination of a worn out little body and not enough sleep, so she can't absorb the calcium and can't make new feathers.
I'm trying her with layers' pelletts laced with olive oil and as much poultry spice as I can get it to absorb, although my little chook tells me that what she really needs is stilton with apricots. Believe which one of us you want!Comment
