  • The Neighbours moved in!

Here are pics of the four chooks given to me at the weekend by my neighbour.

The two Marans look very much like one of mine, but without the copper front, one has feathery feet the other doesn't. They have fitted in well, and stand up for themselves against the 'rabble'

The two cream ones aren't so brave. One is paler with no tail feathers, the darker one is a larger bird, much heavier and looks fluffy. They both have feathery feet. The large one hasn't settled in as well, and keeps herself away from the rest.

They all go to bed happily with the rest though, and did from day one! How good is that!?

Nice girls! The second whitey seems to have a smaller comb - is she younger?

Urm - I dunno I forgot to ask what they were or how old - stoopid huh! One of the Marans was hatched by my neighbour and is called 'Mini' but I can't remember which one oops! Not doing very well am I? LOL Will find out though.

They're all used to being handled and the two Marans already join in the stampede for corn with the rest, even when it isn't corn time.

Interesting point is my Neighbour's method of catching them - he uses a long-handled net, like a butterfly net! Works a treat, may have to get one myself.

*sticks tongue out and blows huuuuge raspberry at Hayley*

Actually, I don't run - not built for it you understand - too much ballast in the wrong places IMHO !

Told the kids that I used to be a 10,000m runner in my youth (about 40 years back) and they laugh like drains but personally I think I am a fine figure of several people!
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

That's about the same reaction I get when confessing to my misspent youth as a lifeguard. These days I could probably still do it, but I'd be a danger to shipping.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.
