  • Chook food near Beckenham.

Hello all! Anyone know of a good supplier of chook food near Beckenham? Will be in that neck of the woods later this afternoon (visiting brother and new girlfriend) and need to stock up with feed and bedding stuff. I'm traveling from Stevenage so anywhere on that route would do.

    Jack Frost Pet Products
Holwood Farm Shire Lane Keston Kent BR2 6AA

If that's any good to you? I just googled Farmgate Layers Pellets and then searched on the store locator by postcode. Might be useful in the future if not today

where abouts is that place in Stafford where you get your farmgate? i have just been to the shop on the a34 between cannock and staffs and all they have now is mixed corn as they are going over to "the fancy feed company"

so unless i want to trek up to Leek every fortnight to stock up, i am left at the mercy of Countrywide or Wynnstay

Thanks Maureen, I ended up in a farm feed/saddlery place in Perry street, Chislehurst. I had to buy fancy feed company products, are they not very good,Bramble?
Noticed this evening that our local Pets at Home shop has just started stocking chicken feed and all the accessories- think I'd rather go to a farm shop though.

Fancy Feed Company is a good product, but they only do layers or breeder pellets so i cant get the chick crumb, rearer, finisher etc etc that i need. Also you pay for the engineering of the food.

I would rather go to someone like Farmgate who do specific foods for my needs. They sorted me out today with some food for the breeding turkeys. They actually employ specialist dieticians for the feed so they can recommend the correct feed

Never saw this thread when it might have been useful - best place I have found in this area is Hengst Farm in Banstead. Pellet (smallholder range) and corn in 20kg sacks both under a tenner.
The weeks and the years are fine. It's the days I can't cope with!

push comes to shove, if you order 4 x 7.5kg bags of feed from Farmgate they will deliver it to you for £5 i think. small bags i know but they might be just the size you need

It's on Rickerscote Lane, it's a haulage firm with a sort of Smallholding attached and they sell all sorts of farming stuff. It's called Boulton's (I think), you have to go down a long pot-holed lane to get to it, park outside a pre-fab office building to go in to pay for the stuff then the old chap lets you drive into the big barn and (for me ) he loads it into my car. They only do Farmgate layers pellets and mash and Farmgate mixed corn. Hope they don't change to Fancy Feed Company!
